Winter Youth Programs

In 2017 WFU collaborated with Masajid across the borough to hold a series of events and programmes around the December holiday period. The main aim of the programmes were to bring as many people into the environment of the Masjid as possible during the holiday season - in particular youngsters. There were many talks by various scholars on youth related topics along with Q&A sessions, games, food, overnight stays and other group activities. An inter-masjid football tournament was also arranged with teams participating from many different local Muslim organisations. The programmes were very successful and many more similar initiatives took place [...]

Seminaries’ Liaison

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Sisters’ Accessibility

In 2017 WFU ventured on a project focusing on the provision of services and facilities for sisters in local Masajid. Research was conducted to find out what was currently available to sisters and also what there was a need for. Three surveys were created for this purpose: One was aimed at male and female scholars to gather their views on arrangements for sisters in Masajid from a religious view point, the second was for responsible individuals in Masjid management to find out their perspective on the services they provide to sisters and the third survey was for the for sisters in [...]

Covid-19 Ghusl Response

During the unprecedented situation of Covid-19 in the UK, WFU were heavily involved in the formation of a funeral response team within the Borough. By working together with WFCOM (Waltham Forest Council of Mosques) and WFMBT (Waltham Forest Muslim Burial Trust - Folly Lane Cemetery), a service was provided to ensure that any of our Muslim brothers and sisters who passed away during the pandemic were still given a dignified Janaza according to Islamic principles, whilst also adhering to health and safety guidelines. Male and female scholars from WFU were at the forefront of carrying out the Ghusl and Kafan procedures [...]

Online Zakaat Workshops

In 2019 a presentation on the Fiqh of Zakat was created by WFU following a detailed refresher program for Ulama. This was delivered in several Masajid before or during Ramadan. The presentations proved to be very educational and beneficial to participants. In 2020 the presentation was improved and delivered again but as an online course due to the Covid-19 closure of Masajid. The online courses were very well received. InshaAllah this course will be delivered on a yearly basis across the borough and the resources will be made available on this website.
